Universal Studios Florida Adventure
For the last few years, our family vacations to Orlando have mostly involved going to Walt Disney World. Last year, in November, we decided to do something different so we went to Universal Studios Florida.
In this blog post I will tell you more about what we did there and which rides we chose to take. So here we go.
1. A Day in the Park with Barney
It's the only place on earth where kids can meet Barney and his friends Baby Bop and BJ live every day in a sing-along, clap-along musical show. The fun takes place in a peaceful park setting with trees, park benches and flowers. While the characters dance and sing both new songs and familiar favorites leaves fall from the sky, snowflakes flutter down, the stars come out and other magical surprises take place.
2. Animal Actors on Location
The show is a lively and hilarious mix of video segments, live animal performances and audience interaction that's sure to please every member of the family. Whether they fly, crawl, hop, swim or slither, these amazing animals will charm and entertain you with their antics and have you "howling" for more. It’s more fun than humanly possible!
3. Curious George Goes To Town
This unique playground offers a variety of activities for children of all ages. Curious little ones can explore the colorful Animal Show tent with plenty of play activities for toddlers. Enter the town's cartoonish buildings and grab a pump, valve, hose or lever to spray (or drench) your friends with water. And head to the Man in the Big Yellow Hat's Ball Factory where you can throw, blast and launch thousands of soft foam balls at family and friends – and anyone else within reach. Take aim with your water cannon at the town center's clock tower and fill a pair of 500-gallon buckets that periodically dump water in a spectacular splash on the street below.
4. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter - Diagon Alley
Explore more of the wizarding world than ever before at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley, at Universal Studios Florida. Enter Diagon Alley from the streets of London. Dine at the Leaky Cauldron, see a wand choose a wizard at Ollivanders wand shop, and experience the excitement of a multi-dimensional thrill ride inside Gringotts bank.
5. The Simpson Ride
Once you board your vehicle you're in for one surprise after another as you embark on a wild, over-the-top ride through the park... flying, floating, and more or less crashing your way through Krustyland's kiddie attractions, stunt shows, and thrill rides. Be sure to keep an eye out for many of your favorite characters from the TV series in this all-new animated adventure, which takes you through Springfield and beyond... it's the first-ever attraction based on the show!
6. Kang & Kodos Twirl 'n' Hurl
We took a gently stomach-turning spin that swoops up and down, circling one of the drooling aliens like the Questorian Radium Belt encircles Vista 6, complete with sound effects from famous Simpsons characters.
7. Woody Woodpacker's Nuthouse Coaster
Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster takes you on a ride through Woody’s nut factory, filled with the kind of puns and corny jokes that only a real nut like Woody Woodpecker would think up. Woody Woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster has all the hills and thrills a tyke can take. Perfect for toddler "first-timers" (and those who like their ups and downs in small doses), the Nuthouse Coaster delights without daredevil drops. Gentle swoops, rolling turns and silly circles bring every rider back with a smile.
8. E.T. Adventure
Board your flying bicycle and sneak him through the woods – past the police and scientists searching for him. Then take off and fly over the city, past the moon and soar across the stars together. At the end of your journey awaits his magical planet, filled with unforgettable creatures who greet you in song... with E.T. himself there to thank you personally. Based on one of the most popular movies ever made, E.T. Adventure is one of Universal Studios Florida's most iconic attractions, delighting millions of visitors over the years. Bring the whole family and experience an adventure that will touch your heart all over again.
9. MEN IN BLACK - Alien Attack
Wind your way through Men In Black's top secret underground headquarters, including the break room, the control center, the agents' locker area and weapons armory. Then board your training vehicle and ride through the streets, taking aim at "the scum of the universe" who have escaped from their intergalactic prison transport. The ride's outcome is based on your score – save Earth and you might get promoted to full-fledged Men in Black agent. With multiple endings, it's never the same ride twice!
10. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
After making it through "Minion training" things don't go as planned! Within moments, you're launched into an unforgettable trip through Gru's super-villain laboratory. Gru, Margo, Edith, Agnes, and the mischievous Minions race along with you through every zany twist and turn. The laughs keep coming after the ride with an interactive, Minion-inspired dance party. Take the floor and show off your best moves.
11. Shrek 4-D
In this chapter of Shrek saga Lord Farquaad has returned (in ghostly form) to kidnap Princess Fiona. Join the world’s favorite big green ogre and his wise-cracking, four-legged sidekick as they take off in hot pursuit. You'll gallop through a haunted forest, ride on the back of a fire-breathing dragon, and plunge over a churning waterfall in order to save the day. Shrek 4-D features an original 3-D film starring the vocal talents of the movies' original cast. After entering Lord Farquaad's "dungeon" you’ll emerge into a 3-D theater where special effects and the miracle of OgreVision glasses bring the experience to life. You’ll see, hear, and actually FEEL the action as moving seats, water, wind, mist and other special effects put you right in the middle of this fairytale adventure.
12. TRANSFORMERS: The Ride-3D
Prepare for the greatest battle you’ll ever ride! TRANSFORMERS: The Ride–3D is an ultra-immersive, next generation thrill ride that blurs the line between fiction and reality! As a N*E*S*T recruit, you’ll find yourself on the front lines of an intergalactic war between the Autobots and Decepticons. You’ll fight alongside Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, trying to keep the Allspark from falling into enemy hands. This was our favorite ride!
